The situation

In a Captivate project, we want to change the look and/or the margins of the captions. We have a new set of captions and stored the bmp and fsz files.

De situatie

In een Captivate project willen we de vormgeving van de gebruikte captions aanpassen. We hebben een nieuwe set captions gemaakt en hebben de verschillende bmp- en fsz-bestanden opgeslagen.

Problem

It is not possible to import a caption with an already used name.

Probleem

Het is niet mogelijk om een caption met dezelfde naam opnieuw in te lezen.

Cause

At the moment Captivate a caption for the first time then the bmp and the fsz data with the name of the caption set out in the project.

Oorzaak

Op het moment dat Captivate een caption voor het eerst gebruikt dan wordt de bmp- en de fsz data met de naam van de caption vastgelegd in het project.

Solution 1: New names

This is the standard way:

1. Create a new set of captions and save it under a new name. In the example the old name was myCaptionOld.
2. Make sure that the captions in the project you want to replace have the same style and that the style is saved.
3. Select one of the captions you want to replace.
4. Click on the folder on the right of the listbox Caption type.
5. Select the caption with a new name. In my example myCaptionNew.

Now only the caption you had selected is replaced. Replace the other captions by clicking on the icon Save changes to Existing Style.

Oplossing 1: Nieuwe namen

Dit is de standaard manier:

1. Maak een set nieuwe captions en sla deze op onder een nieuwe naam. In het voorbeeld was de oude naam myCaptionOld.
2. Zorg er voor dat de captions die je in het project wilt vervangen dezelfde stijl (Style) hebben en dat deze is vastgelegd.
3. Selecteer één van de captions die je wilt vervangen.
4. Klik op het mapje rechts naast de listbox Caption type.
5. Selecteer de caption met een nieuwe naam. In mijn voorbeeld is dat myCaptionNew.

Nu is alleen de caption die je had geselecteerd vervangen. De andere captions kan je in één keer vervangen door  op het icoontje Save changes to Existing Style te klikken.

Solution 2: Cheat Captivate

If you haven’t been careful with the saving of the styles or if you absolutely want to remain the old name of the caption this is the way to cheat Captivate.

1. Create a new project with the same size as your original project.
2. Place on the first slide a new caption. In my example, have also called myCaptionOld.
3. Go to the original project and copy all the slides.
4. Paste these slides into your new project.
5. The design of the captions on the pasted slides will be overwritten with the settings of the captions on the first slide.
6. It is possible that new margins are not yet taken. In the example, the left and right margins of the old captions were 5 pixels. The new margins were 25 pixels.
7. A part of the is not visible yet. The solution is in the Object Style Manager ([Shift] + [F7]).
8. Change the setting in Format Align and place it back immediately.
9. Click the Apply button
10. Remove the first slide.
11. You will see a difference between the captions on the screen and the preview of the properties. This is automatically solved affter a restart of Captivate.

Oplossing 2: Leid Captivate om de tuin

Als je niet zo zorgvuldig bent geweest met het vastleggen van de stijlen of als je absoluut de oude naam van de caption wilt handhaven dan is dit de manier om Captivate om de tuin te leiden.

1. Maak een nieuw project met dezelfde afmetingen als je oorspronkelijke project.
2. Plaats op de eerste slide een nieuwe caption. In mijn voorbeeld hebben deze ook de naam myCaptionOld.
3. Ga naar het oorspronkelijke project en kopieer daar alle slides.
4. Plak deze slides in je nieuwe project.
5. De  vormgeving van de captions op de geplakte slides wordt overschreven met de instellingen van de captions op de eerste slide.
6. De kans bestaat dat de nieuwe marge instellingen nog niet zijn overgenomen. In het voorbeeld was de linker- en de rechtermarge van de oude captions 5 pixels. In de nieuwe had ik deze ingesteld op 25 pixels.
7. Een deel van de tekst valt dus nog weg. Dit los je op door de Object Style Manager te openen ([Shift]+[F7]).
8. Verander bij Format de instelling Align en zet deze direct weer terug.
9. Klik op de knop Apply.
10. Verwijder de eerste slide.
11. Je ziet nu nog een verschil tussen de caption op de stage en de preview bij Properties. Nadat je captivate opnieuw hebt opgestart klopt de preview weer.
